Mission Statement: The Cincinnati Flower Growers Association is an organization of growers, retailers, suppliers and educators dedicated to the promotion of flowers and the well being of those around us.
 
 
July 2011 Meeting Notes:
 
Welcome and Minutes
 
The meeting was hosted by Eason Horticultural Resources. President Elmer Grosser called the meeting to order and thanked everyone for attending. He thanked Eason for hosting.  
 
The minutes were approved as sent, with a motion made by Jesse Hensen and seconded by Jordan Holtkamp.
 
Treasurer’s Report
 
Scott McCabe gave the treasurer’s report. Deposits were made for dinners, split-the-pot and dues. Payments were made to McCabe’s for the June meeting. No bills were presented.
 
Committees:
 
            OFA:
            Short Course is here. Booths are sold out. Things are looking good.    
 
            Hamilton County Extension:
            The Asian Longhorn Beetle has become a problem, destroying trees and laying eggs. 88 infested tress so far. Make sure you check pallets for insect infestation. The 4H Fair will be at Stricker’s Grove July 10 – 12. Flower            donations would help spruce up the place. 
 
            Farm Bureau:
            July meeting is cancelled.       
 
            Cincinnati Zoo:
            Plant Trials Day will be held on September 1st from 8:00 to 5:00. They’re looking             for some outside speakers. It will be held in the Schott Center at a projected             cost of $40.
 
Old Business:
Bus Trip – Michigan grower tour will be August 9th to 10th.
 
A new committee has been formed to boost meetings. Dave Maile is leading the group. Surveys will be sent out with ideas. Education, humor, change of venue – lots of ideas have been suggested. A presentation will be made at the next meeting. 

Adjournment:
A motion to adjourn was made by Jesse Hensen. The motion was seconded by Jordan Holtkamp. The meeting was adjourned.
 
The Eason staff presented the 2011 California Spring Trials best picks. Please contact Eason if you would like to receive a copy of the booklet of recommendations that they have put together.
 
Next Meeting:
 
Will be held on Wednesday, August 3, and will be hosted by The Cincinnati Zoo.
